Battle of the Bangs

So as all of you should know (if you've seen me in the last 9 months) last summer I decided to go for it, and get bangs. They were a little hard to get used to at first, but now that I pretty much have them under control, they've sort of grown on me. Amy Dot said that now whenever she pictures me she always pictures me with bangs, as if I always had them. Britt Brat has liked them from the very beginning (even though at first they made me look really young). So the feedback has mostly been positive...but recently another one of my friends said that I should "lose the bangs." So now I'm beginning to second guess the whole bang situation (especially since summer is almost here and it gets freaking hot with these things over my face...).

So the question is...do I keep the bangs for a little while longer or should I let them grow out? And I expect everyone who reads this silly thing to respond! And if you don't respond on her then tell me in person or on the phone or through a text message or facebook or myspace or send an owl. Just let me know! :)

There are your comparisons. Now be my friends and let me know what you think :)

Bond, James Bond

This past weekend I went home and finally got to watch the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale. I admit that I was a little worried at first about Daniel Craig being Bond. It wasn't really anything personal against him because let's face it, he is one good looking man. Didn't you see Lara Croft: Tomb Raider? But as much as I love Daniel Craig (and love looking AT him) I wasn't sure if he was the right choice to be Bond. And I feel bad saying it, but I was one of those people who simply thought that Bond shouldn't be blonde. I mean, he's just always been the tall, dark, handsome brunette....and I'm not a big fan of change.

Other than being a bit judgmental of Daniel Craig as Bond, I was extremely pumped about seeing the movie, and actually had high expectations. Mainly because there's no way it could possibly be any worse than the last Bond movie, Die Another Day, which was so ridiculous I wanted to cut off my own foot just to have something to throw at the t.v...okay, so maybe not...but I think you get my point. So I am happy to say that Casino Royale is a GREAT movie and Daniel Craig is a GREAT James Bond! Of course, nobody can top Sean Connery, but I'd say he's easily the second best. He was just so perfect for the young and wild agent who is just promoted to 007.

So after watching the movie I became curious about the Bond movies. And it is pretty much a goal of mine now to see every James Bond movie. Six different actors have played Bond in the 22 movies. Curiously, the newest Bond movie they're working on is under the production name of Bond 22...when in reality it 's the 23rd. Either way, the list goes as follows:

Dr. No (1962) - Sean Connery
From Russia with Love (1963) - Sean Connery
Goldfinger (1964) - Sean Connery
Thunderball (1965) - Sean Connery
You Only Live Twice (1967) - Sean Connery
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) - George Lazenby
Diamonds are Forever (1971) - Sean Connery
Live and Let Die (1973) - Roger Moore
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) - Roger Moore
The Spy Who loved Me (1977) - Roger Moore
Moonraker (1979) - Roger Moore
For Your Eyes Only (1981) - Roger Moore
Never Say Never Again (1983) - Sean Connery
Octopussy (1983) - Roger Moore
A View to a Kill (1985) - Roger Moore
The Living Daylights (1987) - Timothy Dalton
Licence to Kill (1989) - Timothy Dalton
GoldenEye (1995) - Pierce Brosnan
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) - Pierce Brosnan
The World is not enough (1999) - Pierce Brosnan
Die Another Day (2002) - Pierce Brosnan
Casino Royale (2006) - Daniel Craig
Bond 22 (coming out in 2008) - Daniel Craig

So yeah, another thing to add to my list of things to do before I die...anyone up for a James Bond themed movie night?

Play it again, Sam

I don't think I could ever stress enough how much I love music. And let's be honest. I have more on file than I have time to listen to. Well, earlier today I couldn't decide what sort of music mood I was in so I decided to take a look at all the playlists I have created. Looking through them I have no idea what I was thinking when I made some of these lists. Obviously a lot of them are just my favorites songs and artists, but a fair amount are very random songs that I just felt like listening to at the time (Blink 182?!). Either way though, they're my playlists and they make me happy (well, most of them) :)

50s favorites - If I could have grown up in any other time period it would have probably been the 50s (or the late 30s/40s during the swing dancing days)
All Songs - Remember when I had intended on listening to every song on my laptop...?
Barenaked Ladies Favorites - I need more of their c.d.s
Bedtime Mix - a mixture of the Eagles, Journey, and Scorpions that I used to listen to at the beginning of freshman year to help me fall asleep
Billy/Jim slow songs - Billy Joel and Jim Croce. Need I say more?
Break Up - The songs I listened to over and over again 24/7 in the weeks after John and I broke up. Let's just say they're not very happy or optimistic...(Song most played: Lost without your love by Bread)
Christmas - I tried to get into a Christmas mood, but it never really happened...
Eagles slow songs - LOVE the Eagles
Elton John favorites - Another great piano player
Guy loves girl - a mix of all those silly romantic songs I used to listen to in Junior High like I don't want to miss a thing by Aerosmith and I Swear by All For One
Instrumental - a couple of songs that I listen to while I'm doing homework so I'm not distracted by lyrics
Journey slow songs - LOVE Journey
Michael Buble slow - He has the most amazing voice...reminds me of the oldies Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin
Missing John - A mix of Boston, Styx, and Beatles that I made when John left for college and I listened to every time I missed him (basically 24/7)
Nap Mix - a couple of the classics, consisting of Etta James, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Sinatra
Oldies slow - The 50s brought some of the most romantic songs ever (Earth Angel!)
Queen Favorites - I don't care what sort of bad experiences you may have had, only CRAZY people don't like Queen
Rut - a very random mix of songs that comforted me when things were starting to go bad a couple of months ago
Sick List - Another very random mix of songs for when I wasn't feeling well
Sleep deprived - Probably close to 100 loud and upbeat songs that kept me awake and sane during finals week of freshman year (Most played song: Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield)
Slow Beatles - The Beatles have insight into my soul!
Will's c.d. - I keep meaning to make this c.d. for Will with all the songs that remind me of him and our friendship...but our friendship sort of fluctuates up and down so I have yet to give it to him. lol.

Welp, that's all I've got. Peace out!

Just thinking...

And now for a fit of randomness brought to you by yours truly...

  • How do Miami University girls run miles and then still look cute? After I run I look like I have major sun burn on my face. Red face + red hair = Don't look at me until I cool down!
  • Denise Richards had snow shipped into L.A. during 80 degree weather for her daughter's birthday. You've GOT to be kidding me! That's like something from off t.v....like Full House! (Seriously, it happened...) Come on! Do something beneficial with all your money, Denise!
  • Summer is probably my least favorite season...yet I'm REALLY looking forward to it this year! And since I'll be studying abroad in London next semester (yeah, that's right!) then I'll have 4 1/2 months of summer. Woo hoo!
  • I just saw the movie trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End on t.v.! And I searched all over the internet and couldn't find it :( Oh well...May 25th! Yes!
  • I'm really mad that they cancelled the show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. It was really cool! AND it had Matthew Perry! I want to cry...
  • This Anna Nicole Smith death has really dragged on and on...I'm sorry she's dead...but seriously...let her rest in peace.
  • My friend, Bri Lipian (Bri Hansen from High School) is having a baby girl! I'm SO incredibly happy for her!
  • My boss wants me to work the Shaker Heights market in Cleveland this summer. CLEVELAND? Seriously? That means I'd have to wake up REALLY early on Saturday mornings, drive to Wooster to get the bread, drive to Cleveland to sell the bread, and then drive back to Wooster. That would be crazy...especially since I wouldn't have any company this time...yeah...I'll probably do it anyway...
  • If I were a celebrity I would totally be on the show Dancing with the stars
  • I tried on my bridesmaid dress for Christian and Kate's wedding. It's pretty and I'm SO pumped!
  • Why can you only save 15 text messages on your phone? Come on! You can save lots of voice messages why not have more space for texts? (I probably have close to 15 voice messages saved...)
  • My horoscope in this magazine says: "A romantic puzzle will be solved this week when you ask the right question." Hm...I think the real puzzle is who do I ask the question to?

Alright, well of course I have tons of school work to do...I just couldn't resist the urge to procrastinate as usual...

Peace out!

In love!

I am totally head over heels in love with these shoes! And true love lasts a lifetime so I pretty much should definitely buy them. They're 4.25 inches! Which means when I wear them I'd be like 5'5'' or more! Sweet!

Sophia Katherine

This last Saturday night was a wonderful night indeed. I met my new cousin, Sophia Katherine. Well, actually I don't know if cousin is the correct term. There might be some particular name...but she is my cousin's daughter. Anyway, that doesn't matter. The point is, she has red hair! And she's so BEAUTIFUL!

Oh, and in case you were wondering. She was not named after me. We were both named after my great-grandmother (my dad's grandma).

I feel good!

Ah...Friday morning. The ground is slightly frosted and there is a perfect breeze which hints the beginning of spring. Walking slowly to enjoy the morning sun, the newfound feeling of freedom is upon me. Yes, it is indeed that glorious Friday, you know the one, the one you've been waiting for since returning from Christmas break. For college students, it is known as many things: The end of a hell week consisting of midterms and papers, the time you realize you're really ready for summer, and to Miami students, the day after Green beer Day. Yes, that glorious Friday, the day Spring Break begins!

I am SO incredibly excited about Spring break! Where am I going, you ask? What are my plans, you wonder? Well, quite frankly, I'm not going anywhere and I don't have any big plans. I am just going to relax, sleep, and have some good old fashioned fun! I will be working a bit at Broken Rocks, helping my mom in her classroom, spending time with family, and hanging out with friends! And that's all that I care about! Who needs to go to Florida where it's warm? I don't! (But mostly just because I wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit right now. Heehee).

So here I am rocking out to some sweet Spring Break appropriate music such as "I Feel Good" by James Brown and "I want to break free" by Queen. (And for those of you who think that "rocking out" is not something Katherine Lunt is capable of doing then you're highly mistaken.) Because oh boy, it is 10:30 a.m. and I'm done with classes and in t-minus 4 1/2 hours I will be on my way home for one wicked awesome week! Woo Hoo!

Enjoying life's sweet nectar :)
for the first time in a real long time

Scuttle and Love

Last night I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for the reunion of my ENG 304 class last semester. Now I know what you're thinking, "What kind of an odd college student would want to attend a college class reunion?" Well, I wanted to attend! I even passed up a trip home to go! I know, hard to believe! Well, this wasn't just any ordinary class. This was pretty much the best class ever. The subject, you ask? Well, it was called Backgrounds to Composition Theory and Research. Let's just say it was an Education/writing class. I had to do this huge portfolio with tons of my writing in it for the midterm. I was pretty proud...

Well, this class was amazing. The professor was the one and only Don Daiker (pronounced diker...), a 70 year old man who resembles Scuttle from the Little Mermaid. He has the thickest and most wild eyebrows one has ever seen, and however much we loved him, the class often made comments referring to tying him down and taking a weed wacker to his eyebrows (All for his own good, of course). But despite his bushy eyebrows and old age, Don still has the heart of a young college student, with the life wisdom to go with. He may have taught us how to be better teachers, but mostly he taught us how to be better people (It sounds mushy, I know, but it's true). Needless to say I become fairly close to Don and many of my classmates, so this reunion was going to be awesome.

I arrive twenty minutes late because of course, there are no buses going up town at the time and I had to turn around and come back to my dorm after walking for five minutes or so because I forgot my cell phone. Once I get there, only three other girls have arrived, and by the time the whole party gets there only seven girls from the class (including me) plus Don are there. It turns out this was a really busy weekend for most people...so it wasn't as excited as I'd hoped it would be, but of course, any chance to see my old friends is a good time to me. And although I only got to talk to them for about an hour before I had to leave it was very interesting to say the least.

One by one Don would ask us how we were, and we'd shout across the table as loud as we could what we've been up to. (I don't know if you've ever been to Buffalo Wild Wings, but that is one loud place, especially when you're trying to talk to a 70 year old man with bad hearing.) So when it came to my turn Don looked at me and shouted, "So, Katherine, how are you? Are you in love?" Now normally this would seem like quite an odd and personal thing to say to one of your former students, but you don't know Don and his class. Personal was normal, personal was expected. You see, the reason Don asked me specifically was because during the approximate 3 1/2 month span of his class I went from being happily and madly in love to being shot in the heart to the point where I couldn't even go one day without bursting into tears. At the time, Don knew this, so did my classmates. It was personal.

So here I am, all eyes on me, and Don is asking if I am in love. I want to say, "Yes, but I'm waiting to get over it; I HAVE to get over it because he doesn't feel the same way." But I can't say that. It's been four months. Hearing that is just depressing, and I'm so sick of being depressed and people seeing me depressed. So instead I say, "I'm working on loving myself." Which is basically true. I haven't loved myself these past four months. I want to get back to the person I loved before I had my heart ripped into a million pieces. The truth is, I'm in love with the wrong person. I need to be in love with myself. So that IS what I'm working on. And all this may be too personal to share with all of you, but with me, personal is normal, personal is expected. So if you're going to read, it's what you're going to get.

Peace out!

urge (n): an involuntary, natural, or instinctive impulse

I came out of class today and it was raining...not just sprinkling, but it wasn't quite pouring. I had an umbrella in my backpack, but I didn't get it out. It's not that I was too lazy to reach back, unzip my bag, and get the thing. It's just that I didn't really feel the need. I just wanted to let myself get wet, to let the rain fall on me. And it's nothing I can explain. Sometimes I just get these sudden urges to walk in the rain...

...to get in the car and drive to nowhere in particular
...to scream at the top of my lungs
...to smile for no reason at all
...to dance!
...to practice some of my old cheerleading cheers or dances
...to kiss someone
...to just lay in bed doing nothing
...to go home
...to cry
...to skip class
...to write
...to eat chocolate
...to get on the Miami bus and ride around watching people
...to call the one person I shouldn't
...to stay up really late
...to get dressed up
...to play Donkey Kong Country
...to run
...to say something I shouldn't
...to pray
...to be happy like I used to be

Sudden urges...good or bad? Should you give in or fight with all your might? Maybe we're not supposed to think about it. Just go with the flow...Take it easy...You know, I think I finally understand that phrase. At first I wanted to punch a wall every time I heard it. Take it easy? Yeah, right. Nothing about life was easy then. But now...yeah, I think I'm okay with that. I have a sudden urge to just...take it easy.
