Baby, I'm amazed by you

I hate myself right now...I've said this before...I seem to mean it every time, and of course, every time it's for the same reason. I bet you don't even have to guess why. One simple word: schoolwork. That's right, big surprise. Katherine hates herself because of schoolwork. Go figure! This time I have four essays due before I leave England on Saturday...well, technically...they're not due until January 7th (I can send them in electronically). But who wants to leave school and then continue to do schoolwork over Christmas break? Certainly not me! But unfortunately...considering a change of location didn't change my work ethic, I have so much to do yet...Basically it's three 2,500 word essays (That's about 8 pages double-spaced) and one 750 word essay (2 1/2 pages).

So yes, right now, at this very moment, it may appear that I hate myself. I can say it and think it, but you know what...I don't hate myself! Never have I ever truly hated myself! And you know why? Because I am an amazing person! Now, I'm not saying this because I'm a conceited person. I'm saying this because sometimes you just have to look at yourself and say, "I'm an amazing person!" You laugh, but it's true. There is so much in the world that tries to put us down. Magazines telling us ways to improve our looks, models making us feel fat, the cinema making us believe happy endings only happen in the movies. Well, you know what! I'm sick of the world trying to make me hate myself...I love myself! And you know what, you should too! And here's why...
  • For every one person who doesn't like you, there's ten more who love you
  • God has great things in store for your life and they involve you being happy
  • There's at least one person in this world who lives to see you smile
  • Just when you think things couldn't get any worse...they get better
  • You know that one part of your body you don't like? Someone is jealous of it.
  • Your parents don't have to say that because they're your parents. They say it because it's true.
  • There's always someone else. You're never alone.
  • We all have faults, we all make mistakes. IT'S NORMAL!

You are amazing, and don't let anyone or anything make you think any different. Especially not yourself :)

My Grown Up Christmas List

So this year I decided not to make a Christmas list to give to my parents like I normally do. However, since I didn't write a Christmas List for them, Marissa, Christina (Marissa's friend studying in Greece with her), and I decided to write a practical/impractical Christmas Lists to send to Santa. I admit it was a rather long list...but I thought that it's my first Christmas List to Santa and I've been an awful good girl. So maybe he could manage to take care of a couple things...impractical or not :)

1. Boyfriend/fall in love
2. Lose ten pounds
3. Continue to make the Dean's List every semester in college
4. For military to stop being deployed and for soldiers to come home
5. Stay best friends with my Royal Holloway girls
6. For grandpa and grandma to be healthy and pain free
7. Mini cooper
8. Clear skin
9. White Christmas
10. Become more involved at Miami University
11. Horse
12. New kitten (Come on, mom and dad! Stop kicking the kittens out!)
13. Slow last 1 1/2 weeks in London
14. Incredibly slow Christmas break
15. Dates to all three weddings I'm attending this summer
16. Beat the last level of Donkey Kong Country Super Nintendo
17. Someone to kiss at New Years
18. Continue to grow closer to my dad's side of the family
19. Get more sleep
20. To be more spontaneous and live life to the fullest
21. Get rid of writer's block
22. Grow in my faith/define my own beliefs
23. To like beer
24. Make new friends at Miami University
25. For my right ankle to get back to normal size

Of course that's not everything on my list, but it's a preview. I seriously recommend writing Christmas lists to Santa. It's not only fun, but hopeful. And you must mail them too! Apparently, if you write Santa Claus on an envelope and mail it there is an actual place the letter goes to. And the letter gets read (and sometimes answered!) By who, you may ask? By Santa, of course!

Christmas is coming :)

Katherine Marie Lunt: The Return

Guess what!!! The long awaited return of my blog has arrived! Now I know what you're all thinking, "Oh, great. This is going to be the boring post where she updates on everything she's been doing since she last posted." Well, sorry to disappoint, but you're wrong! I am not going to update on everything. It's been four months! Do you realize how much time that is?! 1/3 of a year! Do you know how much has happened in that 1/3 of a year?! SO much! And do you know how long it would take to update on EVERYTHING that's happened?! Longer than you'll be willing to read! So in order to sidestep "the update" and jump right into what I'm doing NOW let me sum up the past 1/3 of a year as short as possible.

Summer ended. I am now studying abroad in England. It is AMAZING! Life is GREAT! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!

There. I think that will suffice. Now let's move on to more important things...like the present :)
(Sorry if any of you were genuinely hoping for an update. But chances are you all know me and have been keeping in touch with me anyway. And if you haven't, well, just ask. I'm always more than happy to share!)

Basically, I am at odds with myself about what to do with this blog. For as long as I can remember I have been writing about the most random, unusual, and sometimes embarrassing topics. I've shared my innermost feelings, discussed topics that strike my whimsical fancy, and examined ideas of sheer brilliance AND ludicrousy. But now, everything has changed. Everything is different. You see, I'm abroad. And that, my friend, changes everything.

The friends that I've met here all have blogs too. Travel blogs. They write about where they go, who they meet, what they see. It's only natural to want to share your experiences and opportunities with those that love you...or those that read your blog. But I, well, I don't know if I can do that. I don't know if I can turn my pride and joy, my escape from reality, the crazy innerworkings of my mind, into a travel blog. The mere thought...well, it turns all my hard work into rubbish. So I ask you, my most faithful readers, my dear friends and family, you obsessive stalkers, would it be absolutely horrible if I did not write about every single detail of my abroad experiences? Would it be so bad if I didn't change a thing? You think about it...and let me know :)

If you love life, life will love you back

Ah...the story of my life

Well, it's definitely been a while. Sorry I sort of dropped off the face of the earth for a while there, but I'm quite ready now to begin writing again. In fact, I really have no idea why it's been so long...just me being lazy I guess. Ah...the story of my life.

Let's start at the beginning, shall we? Summer was going really great for a while there. I was working as much as my boss seemed fit...which wasn't hardly enough, but I take what I get. It began as two days a week then progressed to four. I'm still told that I'll soon be getting more days than I can handle, but I hardly doubt it. I can handle anything :) Heehee. I was actually getting to spend a decent amount of time with friends. Amy was in Germany and Tiffie was a bit preoccupied. But I still got to hang out with people including all my good old friends and some new ones. I was really liking hanging with the new friends for a while there....but that ended rather abruptly and unexplained. But whatever. I'm over it. lol.

And guess what else?! I was actually running almost every day! Granted I skipped a couple of Sundays because I had church in the morning...and maybe another random day every now and then because I didn't get enough sleep or just didn't feel like it....but still. It was almost every morning that I was up and running. And I was doing SO well too! I could actually make it to my Aunt Alice's house and back without hyperventilating. For those of you who don't know where my Aunt Alice lives it's at the bottom of the hill that leads to the pool on East Main Street. So...it's not really THAT far, but it was great for me because let's face it. I'm not a runner....but for a while there I was...and I was loving it. I was loving summer...until Black Wednesday.

The events of Black Wednesday could be examined from all angles to determine how exactly it happened....If only I hadn't gone to Jessica's house...if only I hadn't wanted to jump on the trampeline...if only I hadn't stopped jumping in order to watch the road for Andrew...if only Jimmy weren't born. Haha (I'm just teasing you, Jimmy. I love ya!) But no matter how you look at it there's really no reason to stress over it. The fact is I was on a trampeline, landed on my ankle wrong, and badly sprained it.

I have since been out of commission...yesterday was the two week mark...at first my entire foot and ankle (toes and all) resembled a huge purple blimp, but it has since transformed to the multi colored, only semi swollen foot that it is now. In fact, my ankle is actually beginning to be normal size again...close, but no cigar. I can get around the house without my crutches now as long as I don't walk around for too long. Since the ankle is still swollen I can't walk unless I'm only putting pressure on the top of my foot, not the heel. But hey, I'm getting there! And I'm scheduled to do the market at work a week from this Saturday. Then I'll be back to work full time and HOPEFULLY soon after that I can start running again...I keep saying that, but in reality it will probably be awhile until I can run again...

So of course if I had my way I would not have hurt my ankle, would not have had to miss three weeks of work, and would still be running (and skinny...). I mean, let's face it. This situation really freaking sucks...But life sort of has it's own plans for me...despite what I want. So all I can do is suck it up...or be really depressed and feel sorry for myself...but that's a whole other story...don't ask. lol. So...yeah...that's what I've been up to. I still won't be working this upcoming week so if you want to do something just let me know. Until then...

Peace out

Katherine

Operation Look Good in Bathing Suits

So this is a little poster that Marissa made of her and I back in September or somewhere around there. We had both gained a little weight and were determined to work out, eat right, and get back to our normal bodies. Marissa is on the right (notice the long hair she used to have) and beside her says, "You're not happy when you eat." lol. Of course, obviously, we didn't mean that all food is bad and that we shouldn't eat at all. We just wanted to be blunt and try to convince ourselves to stop eating bad food. I am on the left (notice the bangs) and beside me said, "You want to look good for your boyfriend." But when John and I broke up she crossed it off and changed it to "yourself." lol. I heart her :)

I lost about six pounds after the breakup because all food basically made me sick, but of course, I gained it back and by the time lent began we were both more than ready to give up sweets. So after forty days of no desserts and about three weeks of actually going to the rec we were actually doing pretty good. (I actually had that line along the side of my calves! lol). But then Easter came...and let's just say we went on chocolate overload...and now we only have one week left to take advantage of the rec here at good old Miami. So what does this all lead to, you ask...?

Heehee. This is Marissa's latest piece of art. I'd say she's gotten better since that first one, wouldn't you? Must be that set design class she's taking...lol. So yeah, Operation Look Good in Bathing Suits has begun and we must be dedicated! No sweets! Going to the rec every day until we leave school! Running almost every day over summer! It is time to feel good about myself and now that I'm finally feeling good on the inside again, it's time to tackle the outside! Woohoo! WE CAN DO IT!

SO looking forward to summer :)

If college consisted of watching Princess Bride and playing Rummy I would have a 4.0

It's official. I have what the professionals call a case of "extended senioritis." Okay, so maybe it's not a real disease...maybe I just made it up...but seriously. Ever since second semester of my senior year of high school I have really been unable to concentrate on school work. I'll let myself procrastinate hardcore until the night before a project/paper/exam...which leads to more all-nighters than any normal college student should have. In fact, I've even started pulling all-nighters on Sunday nights...Sunday nights! I should be getting all my school work done over the weekend so I can start the week with a good night of sleep. But no...stupid extended senioritis.

So I went to bed last night at a pretty decent time I think, about 1 a.m. And it took me at least an hour and half to fall asleep. I don't know what the deal is! It took me even longer to fall asleep Saturday night (2 1/2 hours!) At least I'm dreaming again...even though I had a pretty creepy nightmare last night. Anyway, I accidentally slept through my 8 a.m. this morning...then by the time I got showered and whatnot...I just didn't feel like going to my other class...so Marissa and I each skipped our 3:30 p.m. classes and played a couple hands of Rummy while watching The Princess Bride and eating Tootsie Roll pops. (A little glimpse of what finals week is going to be like). ha ha...

As of now I am completely finished with Journalism, one of my six classes. Since I attended every class I don't have to take the final. Woo hoo! Before finals begin I have one paper and one differentiated lesson plan due Thursday and a current events quiz on Friday. Then for finals week I've got one final Monday, one final Tuesday, one final on Wednesday, one final on Thursday, and then one take home final that's due who knows when. Then Friday morning mom and dad are coming to help us load up all of our stuff and then it's goodbye Miami until January of 2008! Wow! You know, despite being the most awful couple of months of my entire life...this semester went by pretty fast. haha. I hope time slows down for summer!

Loving this BEAUTIFUL weather! :)

And So It Goes

So it's a Saturday night and I'm sitting here alone in the dark listening to Billy Joel and Jim Croce slow songs. Marissa is at a formal with a friend that asked her to go. She looked so pretty. My sister is gorgeous. So I basically wasted the whole day doing nothing, but that's alright. I don't have TOO much to do this weekend...just write a speech basically. It's a refutational speech. I have to argue that it's alright to eat a grape from the fruit aisle in a grocery store without buying the grapes. It shouldn't be too hard to argue...I mean, everyne does it. At least once! Even if you claim you haven't...

There is something wrong with the "o" key on my keyboard. I have to press it really hard to work...this happened with my "n" key a while back...it started working again. Hopefully the "o" key starts working again too. This laptop isn't even two years old yet. I got it the summer before I came to college. Wow...I graduated high school almost two years ago...that is crazy. I can't believe that in two weeks I'll be half way done with college...well, actually, I'll probably have to do an extra semester since I'm studying abroad. But thankfully, the extra semester will only be student teaching and I'll be able to do a walk through graduation in June of 2009. Then hopefully I can live at home and student teach somewhere around Loudonville. That would be sweet.

I'm a little sad right now. Not because I'm alone on a Saturday night or because I'm in a weird mood that resorts me to listening to only depressing songs that remind me I'm single and lonely. lol. I'm sad because I was listening to my saved voice messages on my phone just a couple of minutes ago (I have 13 saved) and realized that my favorite message was deleted. It only saves them for 23 days or some random number like that so if I don't go re-save my messages every so often then it deletes them. So it deleted my message and I am VERY sad about it. It was the message from the night before my last day of high school. It's a voice message of Marissa, Amy, Tiffani, and I singing "Build Me Up Buttercup." It's a long story...some of you might remember it. But now I'm very sad because that was my "pick me up" voice message. Whenever I was feeling sad or lonely or stressed or if I missed the girls all I had to do was listen to that message and everything would be alright. Now I don't know what I'm going to do...

That's life I guess :/

P.S. Brian and Will are both cute blondes. Sorry for the misunderstanding from the previous post.

Blonde Bombs

You know, I've never really been a big fan of blondes. No offense, of course, to Will and Brian or any other blonde guys I know ;) It's not that I dislike ALL blonde guys, I'm just usually more attracted to dark haired guys. I mean, everyone knows about my obsession with Orlando Bloom? And if you don't then you've been living under a rock for the past, oh, I don't know, four years! But I'm just saying...between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise I'd say...well...Brad Pitt...but that's just because Tom Cruise is freaking CRAZY! Okay, that was a bad example. How about James Lafferty over Chad Michael Murray? Or Adam Brody over Benjamin Mackenzie?

But despite my dreams of tall, dark, and handsome men..there are the occasional blondes that drive me as crazy as Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch. Ryan Gosling, for instance. Oh. my. God. A mix of the sensitivity of Noah Calhoun from the Notebook, bad boy Richard Haywood from Murder by Numbers, and the goofy Alan from Remember the Titans. How I wish I were the lucky Rachel McAdams. Actually...even if she weren't dating Ryan Gosling I'd still want to be her...she's gorgeous! Anyway...also on my list of blondes...Ben Foster. I admit he was a little geeky in the t.v. show Flash Forward, but when he starred in Get Over it he wasn't looking so bad...and THEN came roles such as Angel in X-Men. WOW!

So let me just say...that despite my tendency to prefer dark hair over blondes...let me just say that the new Bachelor is AMAZING! I mean, not only does he have the muscles, the smile, and the eyes...he's got it all! Plus, he's a navy man (actually, he's sort of like Hubbell). Also, he's a doctor, a gentleman...he's got a sense of humor and a heart of gold! How can one man be so freaking perfect?!
I am so very envious of the girls on that show who get to compete for his heart...but then again...if I were on that show then I would be single at like 24 years old...I don't really want to be single at that age...I mean, if I had things my way I'd be married by 24...But considering my life these past six months...it's not really going my way. haha. I'm not even going to have a boyfriend during Christian and Kate's wedding this summer...that sucks...

But anyway...what was my point...? Oh yeah...I've been single for the past six months and now I'm reduced to writing blog entries about how hot guys are...lol. Wow...um...so...anyone wanna makeout?

Ha ha :)

BILLY FREAKING JOEL!

Well...as most of you know, this past Friday was the BILLY FREAKING JOEL concert! I'm sure all of you are VERY jealous, so I'll let you in on some of the highlights of the AMAZING concert! :) Heehee.

We were about 40 minutes late for the concert because we had to drive all the way to Mansfield to pick up mom, then got stuck in traffic in Cleveland, then it took us about 10 minutes to find parking, then we misunderstood the valet guy's directions to the theatre and walked way out of our way. I had to shout across the street to a group of guys to ask where the place was. Let's just say we got our workout running around the streets of Cleveland. lol.

When we finally got to the place, we had missed the song My Life, but that's it. Our seats weren't too bad I suppose...we were pretty far back, but at least it wasn't the nosebleed section. I mean, we had a perfect shot of the stage...lol. The piano man sang for about an hour and half, including some of my favorite songs. The list goes as follows (though not quite in the right order...):

Vienna: He gave us a choice of three songs and this was the one people cheered for the most
The Entertainer
She’s Always A Woman: Love this song, but not quite as much as She's got a way (I was so hoping he'd sing that one...)
Allentown
Don’t Ask My Why

Movin’ Out: He dedicated this song to Imus. I think it's because he was fired and therefore had to "move out"? Haha...
Innocent Man: Actually Billy Joel stood up and started singing the song Stand By Me. Then he said, "That's not my song...but I wish it was." Haha! Then he went right into Innocent Man. It was freaking awesome!
Big Shot: Oh my gosh...he doned a backwards baseball cap and did some questionable "gangsta" hand guestures...lol
New York State of Mind
River of Dreams

Zanzibar: You know...Jack Black mentions a restaurant titled Zanzibar in the song Fuck her Gently...I wonder if it's a restaurant to Billy Joel's song...
Highway to Hell: lol...I know what you're thinking. This is not a Billy Joel song...but he let a member of his road crew come out and sing it. haha. He went by the name of "Chainsaw" and he was pretty good. lol.
You May Be Right: This would be when Marissa, Mandy, and I stood up and started dancing and rocking out. We couldn't get mom to join us...lol
We Didn’t Start the Fire: Just so you know...it is a personal goal of mine to learn ALL the lyrics to this song... :)
Still Rock and Roll To Me: After this song Billy Joel said, "Goodnight, Cleveland" and left the stage. The lights went out and everyone got out their cell phones and started waiving them to try to get him to come back out. It totally worked, thank God!
Only the Good Die Young: I LOVE THIS SONG! But oddly enough...I am the type of catholic girl that Billy Joel is singing about. haha...
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Piano Man: Of course, he always ends with this song, I'm sure. EVERYONE was singing along :)

So needless to say it was an AMAZING concert! Billy Joel sounds just as good live (if not better) than he does on his c.d.s. The money was TOTALLY worth it! Best concert I've been to! (Okay, so I've only been to one other concert...) But this one was still freaking AWESOME!

Oh, and just some random information...did you know that Billy Joel's third wife, whom he married in 2004, is a 26 year old named Katie Lee. He met her when she was a senior here at Miami University! She was his waitress at one of the restaurants uptown, 45 east! Haha...

Peace out! :)
